In the Lake District, I dream was born in 2007 as a one of a kind teddy bear for the British retailer Peggotty. The title is a direct reference to British author Beatrix Potter, world famous for her imaginative children’s books about Peter Rabbit and many other beloved characters. Hand made by Amy Goodrich / Portobello Bear Company. Lake District has all her tags and insewn labels still attached. The PBCO paper tag is signed by Amy.

Lake District is a very special little lady with quite a determined look. She is made of a short, soft white grey mohair with dark airbrush details. The head is made of a slightly darker mohair, it feels a little bit “silky”. Black shoe-button eyes and embroidered nose (“Portobello Bear-style”). The frontal body is made of linen with a flowery embroidery. She is wearing a black hat decorated with a branch of wild flowers and a white cotton gown. Although I can easily imagine her wandering about in the beautiful English countryside, she prefers to sit in her basket where she keeps some of her important things; e.g. a Beatrix Potter book, a soap and a bunch of flowers. She measures approx. 28 cm / 12 inches.

In the Lake District, I dream comes in perfect condition. She has had only one previous owner, a grown up collector.

Every Portobello Bear is a masterpiece. This romantic lady is now looking for a new loving home.
