In 2004, to celebrate 100 years of “Button in Ear, Steiff North America, Inc. presented Appolonia. She was made exclusively for The Toy Shoppe (US) in a limited edition of 1,500 pieces. This is number 00172. White / red tag and button in ear trademark. Handmade in Germany. EAN 667633. This very special bear is based on a Teddy bear that Steiff first designed in 1905. Appolonia is named after Appolonia Margarete Steiff, the founder of Margarete Steiff GmbH.

Beautiful Appolonia is the second member of the family also including Maximilian, Zoë and Little Max, all Toy Shoppe Exclusive editions by Steiff. She is Maximillian’s companion for life, and Zoë and Little Max are their children. She measures 71 cm / 28 inches. Appolonia is made from sandy coloured pure mohair of finest quality, and has a small, feminine muzzle, and a unique, horizontally stitched brown stitched brown nose. She has brown claws and big black button eyes. She is fully jointed for expressive posing. Appolonia is wearing a lace collar with a lovely porcelain pendant showing a picture of her beloved Maximilian. Appolonia also wears a gold-plated elephant button in honour of the Centenary of Steiff’s Button in Ear trademark. Every Steiff 2004 Limited Edition features the original Steiff logo button, a tiny elephant with an “S” shaped trunk.

This very feminine teddy bear comes in perfect condition with her own bag with embroidered details in gold colour and certificate of authenticity. The Steiff Toy Shoppe Exclusives didn’t come with boxes, but personal bags.

She has had only one grown up owner and has been living in a non-smoking environment. Appolonia is now looking for a new loving home.
